Portland Path Blazers formally announce re-signing Carmelo Anthony

Immediately after a period-ending defeat to the Los Angeles Lakers on August 29th, Carmelo Anthony explained to reporters he would adore to return to Rip City.

“I pray that it can be Portland,” explained Melo. “Actually, I believe that I located a residence in Portland. I bought at ease with the business. I bought snug with the men on the group. They bought comfy with me. At this place in my career, I do think which is the greatest match for me… I actually hope it can be Portland at the stop of the day.”

Now, the 10-time All-Star is officially back again as the Portland Path Blazers announced it experienced re-signed the veteran Sunday night.

Shams Charania of The Athletic initially described the Blazers experienced verbally agreed to re-indication Melo with a 1-yr, least contract. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski 1st documented the terms of the offer. 

All through the 2019-20 regular year, Anthony averaged 15.4 points per sport and 6.5 rebounds even though shooting 43. % from the discipline and 38.5 % from three in 58 game titles performed with the Blazers last season.

It was a season in Portland in which Melo had referred to as “a revival” of his career.

Path Blazers head coach Terry Stotts also shared his emotions on how he cherished the prospect to coach Melo subsequent Portland’s final activity in the Orlando Bubble.  


“The reality that Melo arrived and performed for the Blazers was specific,” Stotts claimed. “What he intended to the group and the way he executed himself, the way he performed. Obviously in the bubble he created some huge pictures and received us into the playoffs. So I sense honored to have been ready to coach him.”
