African-American jockeys ended up attacked by their white counterparts though competing and ended up ultimately denied licenses to experience.
Whilst the racial discrimination in the activity was not explicitly acknowledged in this year’s Preakness Stakes, it offered a historic backdrop that was hard to ignore.
